The Kebaya is one of Malaysia’s time-honoured traditional clothing with origins that span over hundreds of years. Believed to have Middle Eastern roots, the Kebaya may have derived from the Arabic clothing “qaba” which is a long sleeved coat with buttons. Today, after hundreds of years of acculturation, there are now many diverse variations of Kebaya infused with unique local elements. Why yes, the editor has once again taken a stroll through our hallowed halls here at KWC Fashion Wholesale, and having to pick only three of them to recommend as our shop of the month has well and truly been a difficult endeavour. After all, with so many of our shops being must sees and must visits, having coming across these three specifically speaks volumes about how impressed we were seeing what they had in store!

First to catch our eyes was of course the lovely people over at KOOKI (lot 1-26). We instantly recognized them as they were one of our sponsors for the 2024 KWC Model Search, and from the moment we saw what they had to offer, we knew you were in for a treat! WIth an amazing selection of evening outfits fit for any girl’s night out or even a ball room, this is definitely a store the ladies wouldn’t want to miss!

Taking ourselves two floors up, is how we find ourselves coming across MIKIDIS ( LOT 3-42). Being parents ourselves, we have to say this is an absolutely lovely spot for the kids. One could clearly make out the incredibly cute and soft designs that have an obvious Korean influence to them, making them irresistible to anyone who loves chibi and cutesy aesthetic for their kids. 67 years ago, at Merdeka Stadium, Tunku Abdul Rahman, with his right hand raised upright above his head, shouted “Merdeka” seven times.
